Tenerife’s Cabildo Launches Island Emergency Plan Amidst Severe Wind Conditions

The Cabildo of Tenerife has initiated the Island Emergency Plan this Wednesday in response to the anticipated strong gusts of wind expected to impact the island until at least 9:00 p.m., with the possibility of lasting until 12:00 a.m.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts exceptionally strong gusts in the midlands, the northern slope, the Cañadas del Teide, and the tip of Teno, which may also affect lower-altitude areas as part of the storm impacting the archipelago.

In fact, Tenerife is currently under a yellow warning for storms, with the expectation that these will bring not only rain but also very strong winds.

Following this forecast, the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government has issued a pre-alert for the island, as well as for La Gomera and Gran Canaria, which are also under a yellow warning from Aemet.
