The firefighters of Tenerife were called to respond to a large blaze in the warehouse of a hardware store located on Calle La Arveja, in the La Orotava municipality, as reported by the municipal Security and Emergency Area.
The incident was reported at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, prompting members from the fire stations in La Laguna, La Orotava, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife to mobilise following an alert from the 112 Canary Islands Emergency Coordination Centre.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found that the blaze had impacted “sensitive and highly flammable” materials, leading to immediate cooling and extinguishing operations in the affected area.
Personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) attended to one individual suffering from minor smoke inhalation, who was subsequently transported to hospital for further assessment.
The fire produced a dense plume of smoke, visible from various vantage points. To control the flames, multiple fire brigade units were deployed, alongside members of the Villa de La Orotava Civil Protection Volunteer Group and local police officers.
