The Cabildo of Tenerife will initiate a complimentary on-demand transport service this Monday for the towns of Fasnia, Arico and Güímar. This move aims to enhance the mobility of approximately 13,000 residents in these hard-to-reach areas, as announced by the Island Corporation yesterday.

The innovative system will be rolled out gradually and will not feature fixed routes. According to the Cabildo, this will facilitate a more adaptable service in the designated areas and timings, focusing particularly on peak periods from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., always coordinating with existing bus stops.

Users interested in the on-demand transport can access the service via the Ten+móvil mobile app or by calling the helpline (922070182), available Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Rosa Dávila (CC), the president of the Tenerife Cabildo, remarked yesterday that “this is a significant advancement towards alleviating traffic congestion and promoting sustainable mobility. Our goal is to minimise extensive travel times and reduce the need for private vehicles for errands, appointments, and medical treatments, as well as to enhance public transport access to more remote locations.”

Furthermore, she declared that “by 2025, we will extend the free on-demand transport service to other areas: Tacoronte, El Sauzal, La Matanza, La Victoria, Santa Úrsula, Icod, and Isla Baja.”

The Minister of Mobility, Eulalia García, elaborated yesterday that this initiative “is a permanent solution that will enhance mobility, as on-demand transport will always be connected to the nearest bus stops, thereby promoting the use of public transport.”
