The Sunday Consumption Bonds that were launched for sale this Friday morning were completely exhausted within just two minutes. A total of 357 individuals managed to secure a ticket. This was announced by the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, who emphasised that “this weekend marks the final chance to enjoy the Hola, Domingo initiative. An event that has encouraged residents to show their enthusiasm every Friday for supporting local businesses within our municipality. This initiative has been remarkably successful every Sunday, and we anticipate being able to replicate it soon.”

In addition, the CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, stated that “the 708 bonds available for purchase today represent an infusion of over €17,700 for the 69 businesses involved in the project.” She continued, “With the Hola, Domingo initiative, we aim to stimulate the local economy by revitalising our area, thanks to the involvement of local enterprises. The collaboration of those who have chosen to serve consumers on Sundays has been pivotal, demonstrating the commitment of both the City Council and the business sector to continue progressing in support of Santa Cruz’s economy.”

“It’s vital to note that the bonds acquired today can only be redeemed on November 17. This date also coincides with the celebration of the Half Marathon, which will take place throughout the streets of Santa Cruz from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.,” he emphasised.

Following the sporting event, at 11:30 a.m., two parades will enliven the streets of the town with music and colour, courtesy of the Bloko Energy Association. The parades will commence from two distinct locations: the first from Víctimas del Terrorismo square, moving along San Lucas and Castillo streets, while the second will start from Valentín Sanz street, in front of the Hollywood Building, within the pedestrian area, passing through Plaza del Chicharro, Bethencourt Alfonso Street, then making a turn at José Murphy and Castillo Streets. “Both parades will conclude at Plaza de Candelaria with a percussion performance at 12:15 p.m., serving as a precursor to the closing workshop that will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the same venue,” he added.

Hola, Domingo is a result of a participatory process that consulted various sectors. The project is rooted in governance, inter-administrative and institutional cooperation, as well as backing for the sector, and aims to foster new strategies for the economic and commercial growth of Santa Cruz. This initiative aligns with the Commerce Master Plan (axis 4 Dynamisation and promotion of consumption) and the city’s Strategic Tourism Plan (axis 3 Product and marketing of the destination).
