The animal platform Leales.org broadcast this monday a video in his social networks in which he denounced the “beating” of a dog in Bajamar allegedly at the hands of its previous owner, events that took place on November 29. The images took very little time to go viral and, since then, there have been thousands of user reactions to this event. Just a few hours later, the Lagunera Local Police formalized the cession of Thor to an animal protector, Yes OK, The Valle Colino Regional Shelter affirmed this Wednesday on Instagram that it had already denounced the case last Saturday, “When the author of the video sent it to us”.
For Leales.org “it has been the media pressure that has definitively pushed the case to be resolved through the transfer of the animal to an association, but not a confiscation by the institutions, although it is true that a few hours ago the Local Police of La Laguna have indicated that they will inform the Prosecutor’s Office ”.
The Deputy Chief of the Local Police of La Laguna, Elena Delgado, confirmed to the Cope Canary Islands that “it has been a case in which public opinion has intervened a lot, with many calls, but the reality is that they continue to use the same video as if it were happening now, and this happened on November 29”. According to Delgado, “we have carried out a follow-up, they have visited the place daily, but even so, the considerable social alarm justifies us bringing the facts to the attention of the Prosecutor’s Office. In any case, this happened when it happened, which was on November 29, and it has not happened again ”.
From the animal platform it is recalled that “before reporting on social networks, it must be done formally and that whoever witnesses animal abuse is obliged to report it, according to Article 259 of the LEU (Criminal Procedure Law), which indicates that all Anyone who is aware of a crime has the obligation to report it and if he does not do so, he will be penalized with a fine ”.
For his part, the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, assured on Twitter that “from the City Council of La Laguna we continue working so that the episodes of animal abuse in our municipality have, as in the case of Thor, a happy ending” .
