Santa Cruz will ask for the COVID certificate in its Christmas events

The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, did not want to miss the opportunity to ugly the Government of the Canary Islands that has taken so long to implement the COVID certificate, a measure that Bermúdez, he assured, will implement at all Christmas events with capacity that will be held until January 6 in the capital. This was advanced during the presentation of the Christmas program, which will feature about a hundred events distributed throughout the city, although at this point it is not possible to confirm whether there will be a reception ceremony for the Three Wise Men at the stadium, for which they have already Permission requested, or if there will be a traditional Parade. It will be tomorrow, at the meeting that the municipalities will hold with the Cabildo, when the mayor expects to have more information about the celebration of these events. “Santa Cruz has done its homework, preparing contingency plans for both the parade and the reception, the latter act that we cannot forget is unique to the capital, which has no other municipality,” he defended.

Regarding the Paseo de los Reyes by the traditional route, Bermúdez admitted that “we have not yet requested permission until they clarify what happens with this, both to Santa Cruz and to the rest of the municipalities.” The mayor of Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, added that “if in the end the Parade cannot be done, we have a plan B, which is similar to what we did last year, with real walks through each district, although somewhat better organized, with a fifth cavalcade so that the Kings do not go in such a hurry ”. Regarding the COVID certificate, the mayor defended that “of course we will ask for it, and we will read the fine print of the decree in case we can expand the capacity in the acts in which we already have them established.”

Among these events with capacity, the two concerts, with 1,500 people each, that will be held in Ofra by Los Sabandeños (December 29) and Los Cantadores (December 30), or the craft and gastronomic markets. The councilor regretted that this measure had not been in place since August, because “this very weekend, with Plenilunio, we could have made much better use of the spaces and facilitate control.”

Regarding the Christmas program, Bermúdez explained that there will be almost a hundred activities distributed throughout the five districts. A program of which the Councilor for Culture, Gladis de León, was in charge of advancing the most cultural part, with exhibitions such as Yellow Flag, on the epidemics suffered by the capital over the years, the theater for the whole family that You can enjoy it at the Guimerá or the La Recova Art Room, or the Canaries Inside and Outside Dance Festival that returns to the capital to celebrate its twentieth anniversary. The humor of Aarón Gómez and Kike Pérez this day 11, gospel music, or the Christmas concert in Plaza Candelaria with the Music Band and the Municipal Choir of White Voices, on December 23.

Cabello, for his part, highlighted the two great concerts already mentioned, since, “for the first time, we took this type of celebrations out of the center and took them to the Juan XXIII Sports Center, events that already have Public Health authorization.”

At New Year’s Eve there will be no dances, for the second year in a row, but “we are going to repeat the pyrotechnic shows in each of the districts.” In the case of the stadium event, although authorization is still pending, an audiovisual show is going to be recorded, “as we did last year, to be broadcast by RTVC.”
