SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 9 Nov (EUROPA PRESS) –

The emergency apparatus coordinated by the Government of the Canary Islands, deployed to Valencia since 3 November, is conducting searches in the La Albufera region this Saturday to locate missing individuals, along with additional cleaning operations in the basements and garages of residences affected by DANA, alongside other activities.

In the Los Alfalares district, personnel are engaged in clearing away a substantial volume of mud, domestic items, and appliances from the basements and garages of homes that still require significant cleaning efforts.

Meanwhile, a contingent of firefighters from Fuerteventura, who integrated into the Canarian operation today alongside reinforcements from the Tenerife and Gran Canaria Fire Service, are meticulously searching a section of La Albufera to find missing persons. The team is adhering to directions provided by a Valencia Firefighters unit.

A considerable portion of the Canary Islands operation’s efforts today is centred around draining water from ground levels, removing mud, unblocking doors, and retrieving belongings and vehicles, among other duties.

The team from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) are also providing medical support to the personnel involved in the emergency response coordinated by the Government of the Canary Islands. They are advising them on self-protection protocols to prevent infections and supplying necessary materials for implementation, as well as offering assistance when required.

It is important to note that tomorrow, Sunday, eleven new members of the EIRIF are expected to join the fire brigades of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, comprising members of the BRIFOR and personnel from the SUC and the Canarian Health Service who arrived last Thursday in Valencia.

The ongoing relays will be managed through the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre (CECOES 112) which processes and coordinates offers from various local and island emergency services.
