The vice president of the Cabildo, who oversees Tourism, External Affairs, and Institutional Relations, Lope Afonso, alongside the mayor of El Rosario, Escolásico Gil, convened a work meeting yesterday, followed by a tour of varied locations within the municipality to evaluate the progress of several projects coordinated between their administrations. Also present were the island representatives for Industry and Commerce, Manuel Fernández; Municipal Cooperation and Housing, Sonia Hernández; and the Primary Sector, Valentín González, along with several local government councillors.

Escolásico Gil expressed gratitude for their commitment “to the completion of crucial projects for the enhancement of the municipality,” highlighting the La Esperanza sports complex and therapeutic pool. “This is a historic demand that is making significant strides towards realisation, with the land already acquired by the city council and steadfast support from the Cabildo to finance the project’s development,” he emphasised.
This initiative is to be implemented through a multi-year plan and will replace the municipal swimming pool outlined in the Cabildo Plan drafted in 2000-2001, which was never constructed.

Lope Afonso, for his part, confirmed that, from the island institution, “we will continually support significant initiatives that are aimed at enhancing the life quality of the community.”

Housing

In terms of housing, under the Insular Activa Suelo Programme, the urbanisation works on municipal land located in Llano Blanco are being financed to facilitate the construction of 25 public homes. The overall budget stands at 323,338 euros.
Additionally, the redevelopment of the La Campana industrial estate was discussed, which is ongoing with a budget of 13.8 million euros and is anticipated to complete by September 2025. This, along with the maritime beacon at La Nea and the Radazul bathing area, Tabaiba, and Varadero (396,199 euros), is intended to ensure safety for swimmers from sports boats and establish a secure open-water swimming channel.

Meanwhile, the roofing of the Machado sports field, which also serves the adjacent school, is included in the Tenerife Sports Infrastructure Plan 2022-2026 and has a budget of 246,162 euros.
