The Granadilla de Abona Town Council has preliminarily approved, during a plenary session, the Sustainable Climate and Energy Plan (PACES) unanimously. This plan aims to implement 48 initiatives to lower CO2 emissions in the municipality by 40% prior to 2030. The document will be available for public scrutiny for a duration of 30 days, and it will receive definitive approval if no objections are raised.
The council has already initiated various projects, including monitoring the energy consumption of public facilities, assessing the efficiency of the drinking water supply service, and implementing various lighting schemes for the installation of intelligent LED lighting.
Moreover, the council highlights that a portion of the municipal fleet has undergone renewal and now comprises hybrid vehicles, which are set to be fully operational in the upcoming year.
Additionally, other initiatives that have been introduced include the digital transformation of SMEs, park-and-ride schemes, as well as modular projects in El Médano. A grant has also been awarded for the development of a project concerning a network of 14 vehicle charging stations. Furthermore, the public company Sermugran, which is engaged in the management of organic waste recycling, has planted 280 trees and 1,200 shrubs in collaboration with Acciona, the company tasked with maintaining green areas.
