As ever, November emerges as a significant month for the residents of Icodens. This period is characterised by the San Andrés celebrations, the dragging of the boards, chestnuts, and new wine—elements that draw thousands of visitors annually. The festivities commence, as they do each year, with the presentation of the traditional Cepas and Drago de Honor by the Centre for Initiatives and Tourism (CIT) of Icod de los Vinos. This year, the event is set to take place in the Parque del Drago, with recognition going to comedian Darío López and the gofio mill El Amparo con las Cepas.

A tribute will also be paid to Salvador García, the president of the Tenerife Press Association, and the city’s mayor, Javier Sierra, while the Drago de Honor will honour the Canarian artist Luis Morera. The Strains for this year were crafted by Javier Huerta.
Miguel Ángel Suárez will present the event, which will include a performance by the Garachico chamber choir. Both the highest local leader and Salvador García will be speaking during the occasion.

The programme will proceed on the 27th with a stroll and tasting of traditional Icodense dishes, along with the debut of new wines at the municipal restaurants. The following day, at 8:00 p.m., there will be a wine tasting and pairing event at the San Agustín restaurant. On the 28th, the traditional dragging of boards will commence along the steepest streets of the Ciudad del Drago, including El Plano, San Antonio, Hercules, The Sun, and the French—a tradition that has remarkably endured and been passed down through the ages.

The San Andrés festivities will culminate on Saturday the 30th with the Great Tenerife Wine Festival.
