The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Tenerife announced yesterday the approval of an urban landscaping initiative valued at over five million Euros, encompassing a total of 13 actions across 12 municipalities on the Island. These projects are scheduled to take place between 2025 and 2027. This was revealed by the president, Rosa Dávila, during a press conference alongside the island’s Minister of Industry, Manuel Fernández.

Dávila emphasised that “this is a programme aimed at enhancing the appeal and functionality of urban spaces,” aiming to revitalise these areas through improvements in green infrastructure, biodiversity, and landscape rehabilitation while coordinating efforts with local councils.

As outlined in a subsequent statement, some of the highlighted projects will include, for instance, in Guía de Isora, the refurbishment of La Entrada street, which will transform one of the town’s access routes into a more shaded and garden-like environment; in Fasnia, the adaptation of the exercise park adjacent to the town hall, which will feature more shaded areas and a mural; and in La Guancha, the redesign of the square next to the town hall, which will enhance accessibility and shade, among other localities.

Additionally, the president reported that the Council has also approved the awarding of the contract for the restoration of the facades and interior rehabilitation of the building adjacent to the Island Palace to the firm ASCH Infraestructuras y Servicios, with an investment amounting to 12.5 million Euros and a planned execution period of 26 months.

The Cabildo also reminded that the project drafting for the demolition of the old garages situated on the grounds of the aforementioned annex building has recently been awarded, and that once these interventions are completed, the restoration of the Island Palace facade will commence along with the renovation of its facilities.

The Council further authorised the procurement of two cutting-edge pumper trucks, costing 940,000 Euros. Concurrently, councillor Manuel Fernández announced that subsidies of approximately 200,000 Euros have been allocated to eight municipalities, culminating in more than 1.5 million Euros, aimed at “addressing water losses that might occur within the supply networks.”
