More than a hundred participants cover different ways of making artisan products, with a multitude of materials, ways of working and finishes. SERGIO MÉNDEZ

The last or the first details for Christmas and Kings. The right moment to get that unique touch to decorate the newly finished room, or the simple act of rewarding your senses with the noble art of craftsmanship. All that and more is what visitors to the Fairgrounds can find, until tomorrow, at the XXXVII Regional Handicraft Fair. The artisans come together again to offer the best of each house in a pandemic year that has made everything more difficult. The 137 participants are distributed in 74 posts on the island of Tenerife and 63 on the rest of the islands. Of them, 58% belong to women.

A walk through the Fairgrounds allows you to discover the beautiful art of wood carving, the manufacture of accessories, such as bracelets, necklaces or earrings, in the most diverse shapes, colors and materials, or the great diversity of fabrics that allow making from original and unrepeatable bags, to shirts, skirts or scarves, with that touch of style that is unique. But this sample also allows you to enjoy exhibition spaces in which the world of crafts is approached in different ways. In the first, entitled From head to toe, the headdresses, monteras and hats are shown, as well as the models of footwear used in the eight islands from pre-Hispanic times to the present day. An exhibition organized by the Avant-garde Traditions Sectorial Council of Clothing, together with the Government of the Canary Islands and the island councils, and which is made up of creations that, using traditional techniques and materials, provide an added value of design and functionality based on a rereading of the traditional Canarian patterns.

The third exhibition is made up of the trajectory of eight artisans dedicated a lifetime to the performance of a traditional craft in danger of extinction.

And if this were not enough, this year there is a space for revitalization in which, from four to six in the afternoon, workshops are held for the visiting public who wants to have a first experience with crafts, being able to bring a completely finished object and of his authorship. The workshops taught are shoemaking, natural dyes, jewelry, leaded glass, and paper and cardboard modeling.

Also, in the morning and afternoon, every day, there is a musical performance.
The fair can be visited continuously from 11:00 to 21:00.
