Santa Cruz is making strides in promoting tourism sustainability within the city. To facilitate this, the Governing Board of the capital’s City Council has sanctioned the urgent recruitment of services for analysis, creation of tourism products, and tourism promotion and marketing, as part of the city’s Tourism Sustainability Plan for the period 2025-2028. The initiative involves an investment of €58,750 sourced from the Next Generation funds.
The specialised technical support for the analysis and development of tourism products will be executed through various actions: conducting an inventory and assessment of resources, offerings, and tourism products; revitalising, engaging and training the local tourism sector; and establishing tourism product clubs. These clubs aim to unite participants in order to enhance quality offerings that benefit both service seekers and providers, as well as the destination itself, by covering aspects of culture, nature, and coastal leisure. Additionally, the initiative entails the creation of a landing page, a digital marketing tool designed to convert visitors into prospective customers through a clear and coherent offering.
The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasises that “the project not only strengthens our image as a tourist destination, but signifies a commitment to sustainability and innovation within the sector.” Meanwhile, the Councilor for Strategic Planning, Carlos Tarife, expressed that the initiative “is crucial for the future of Santa Cruz.”
