Following the three days of mourning declared by the Government in honour of the victims of the severe and tragic floods triggered by a DANA in the Peninsula, the La Laguna City Council has opted to cancel all festive, social, and cultural activities until the upcoming Sunday.
This decision impacts events slated for October 31, November 1, and 2, including the Skull Island Tenerife Zombie Walk, a zombie parade scheduled for this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. through the main thoroughfares of the historic city centre.
Consequently, the earlier entertainment scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Plaza del Adelantado, which included complimentary makeup tents and food trucks, along with the subsequent awarding of Best Zombie (costume), Best Walker (performance), and Best Group set to occur in the same plaza following the conclusion of the parade, has been suspended.
This fifth edition was also set to feature presenter and reporter Baby Solano as the master of ceremonies, along with performances by the Crearte Unión Musical de Tejina band, the troupe Los Joroperos, and the Ballet Dance Group.
Zombie Walk
The Calavera Island Tenerife Zombie Walk is a pre-festival event designed to engage audiences of all ages, organised by the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival City of La Laguna with the support of the La Laguna City Council, through its Culture department.
The zombie parade has become a staple among the local community and serves as an attraction for visitors from neighbouring towns in honour of All Saints’ Eve, Halloween.
The initial editions of the Skull Island Tenerife Zombie Walk were held in 2018 and 2019, with the event making a successful return in 2022 after a hiatus due to the pandemic.
