SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 31st October (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife has announced the award of the Gold Medal of the Island of Tenerife to Carla Antonelli and Gonzalo Díaz following the approval today, Thursday, by the Island Plenary of two proposals to confer these esteemed honorary distinctions in accordance with the Regulation of Honorary Distinctions of the Island Council of Tenerife.

In the first instance, the Cabildo has decided to bestow the honorary title of the Gold Medal of the Island of Tenerife upon Carla Antonelli, in acknowledgment of her significant contributions and advocacy for the rights of the LGBTIQA+ community, as well as her efforts towards the liberation of Tenerife’s society for the enhancement of the Island of Tenerife.

Additionally, the insular Corporation has also agreed to award the Gold Medal of the Island of Tenerife to Gonzalo Díaz García, recognising his career which has significantly and notably benefited the island of Tenerife.

The Gold Medal of the Island of Tenerife is an accolade that honours exceptional merits and outstanding services rendered by individuals, entities, institutions, or groups, who, through distinctive and singular actions, or via their overall career, have made a remarkable and notable contribution for the moral or material advancement of the Island of Tenerife.
