Alisios Norte asks the ULL and Health to collaborate to reduce traffic jams

The colective North trade winds ask the University of La Laguna (ULL) Yet the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands That involved in the search for solutions to the daily collapse suffered by the North highway (TF-5). In a meeting organized in Cross port by this entity to «encourage the population of the North and advance in the search for solutions to improve citizens’ living conditions from this part of the Island », the president of Alisios Norte, Iván Rodríguez de Azero, put the accent on “The difficulties involved in persuading public and private institutions to adopt some of the most appropriate solutions.”

For Alisios Norte, solving the mobility problem in the region is “a priority issue”, and they put on the table some measures of immediate application “such as the introduction of teleworking in more private companies and in the public administration.” Regarding the University of La Laguna, which they consider one of the causes of the collapse of traffic, they understand that “it must be involved in modifying schedules”, to avoid traffic jams at peak times, “and with the provision of virtual classrooms for make it easier for teachers and students to attend class without having to travel ”.

The entity advocates the promotion of public transport and high occupancy vehicles

Regarding Health, they propose that «the Canary Islands University Hospital (HUC) also rethink its testing, analysis and consultation schedules for the citizens of the North, while the essential transfers should be made in a more staggered manner, between 11:00 and 17:00 hours ».

“Support for mobility also involves promoting public transport and high-occupancy vehicles, facilitating the implementation of an exclusive lane for use as an advantage over the use of private cars. We consider that road training is also a good alternative to decongest traffic and avoid accidents. In the same way, it is a priority to resume the studies and procedures carried out so far by the different administrations to improve mobility, “said Iván Rodríguez de Azero.

Another priority raised in the Alisios Norte forum is sustainability: «The unique landscape of the north of the Island must be preserved and we must be firm in caring for the environment, especially around roads, coasts and the National Park of the Teide ».

Regarding inter-administrative collaboration, Alisios offers to “serve as a link between city councils to facilitate the implementation of common actions.” As a first step they have already proposed a series of regional meetings to “be present from Buenavista to Tacoronte.” Fifteen municipalities with 223,500 inhabitants that “deserve all the necessary attention to achieve socioeconomic balance.”
