The Adeje City Council is set to initially approve the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) today, aiming to enhance mobility within the municipality. This document is scheduled to be developed over the next four years and has been crafted to “boost accessibility, minimise environmental impact and endorse a healthier lifestyle that is considerate of the environment,” as succinctly stated yesterday by Mercedes Vargas, the Councilor for Traffic and Mobility.
One of the initial measures of the plan involves the introduction of low emissions zones in Costa Adeje. This initiative seeks to reduce pollution in the areas with the highest traffic concentration within the municipality. Furthermore, the document addresses improvements in public transportation, focusing specifically on connectivity between the outskirts and the administrative core. The refurbishment of parking facilities and the enhancement of a more efficient public transport system are also integral components of the plan.
Additionally, the plan aspires to induce a shift in citizens’ mindsets, fostering a culture of responsible mobility. To achieve this, the city council will promote the use of bicycles and personal mobility devices, along with initiatives aimed at encouraging pedestrian movement and the utilisation of public transport.
