Canarian crafts for Christmas gifts and the promotion of the sector

The Fairgrounds It welcomes from today until next Wednesday the long bridge of Canarian crafts. During five days the XXXVII Regional Fair, a place where you can find everything and with a double objective. On the one hand, being able to offer and find Christmas gifts. On the other hand, to seek the re-impetus of one of the sectors most affected by the crisis derived from the Covid-19 pandemic since during 2020 the professionals had practically no activity.

The fair, with free entrance, opens its doors to the public today. At 11:00 it will be officially opened by the president of the Tenerife Council, Pedro Martín, and the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla. The schedule during all the days will be uninterrupted from 11:00 to 21:00.

The offers are attractive at the Santa Cruz Fairgrounds. A space of 12,000 square meters in which they are located just over 130 stands. The souk guarantees that there “you can find everything.”

Visitors will be able to see the work of 140 artisans from all the islands, which represents more than 20,000 products made with both traditional techniques and a very high level of innovation, included in the different artisan trades present at this fair. The main reason for this annual fair is the promotion and dissemination of all the artisan manifestations of the Canary Islands. In addition to serving as an effective channel for the commercialization of the artisan production of the most representative workshops and companies in the Archipelago. In this sense, the island president, Casimiro Curbelo, highlights the participation of La Gomera in this meeting to admire “unique manufactured products, of great quality and cultural value.” Remember that the Island attends this regional event «with a totally renewed visual identity, Artis-Manus, which highlights the coexistence between traditional and avant-garde crafts that occurs in La Gomera, something that we intend to transmit to the rest of the Canary Islands and to the attending public ».

The Ministry chaired by Yaiza Castilla has the distinctive brand Artesanía Canaria which provides the sector with an image for its dissemination and recognition by consumers, identifies the products made by people registered in the Canary Islands Craft Register and protects and maintains the prestige of Canarian artisans and their works. There are more than 900 members of the brand.
