The Municipal Services Department of La Laguna City Council has initiated the installation of the traditional structures known as the arch of lights on Obispo Rey Redondo Street. This emblematic adornment has become synonymous with Christmas for the residents of La Laguna and a quintessential attraction in the city, generating numerous photographs and videos that circulate on social media at the national and international level, “helping to project a modern and welcoming image of La Laguna,” highlighted Fran Hernández, the mayor of Municipal Services.
The arch of lights has been meticulously crafted to harmonise with the aesthetics of the historic centre, respecting the architectural landscape and enhancing the beauty of the surrounding buildings. “This is a project we undertake with great diligence, as it is one of the decorative features that creates the greatest anticipation among the public,” stated Hernández, who revealed that this year’s installation will incorporate new elements to enhance its visual charm.
The work commenced this week to ensure a timely completion for the official illumination of the Christmas lights, set for November 22, the day prior to the White Night celebration, “to ensure that visitors experience the warmth and charm of our illuminated streets, a unique and inviting atmosphere to enjoy the diverse array of shops, restaurants, and cultural activities that the city has to offer,” he added.
The installation employs cutting-edge LED technology, dedicated to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. “This is a technology we are implementing throughout the municipality, to provide suitable lighting quality for our residents, whilst remaining conscientious about our planet,” emphasized the mayor.
