Heroic Rescue: Couple Saved from Drowning in Los Gigantes Coastline

The Maritime Rescue helicopter, known as Helimer, saved a swimmer of foreign nationality who showed signs of drowning near the natural pool of Charco de Isla Cangrejo, located in Los Gigantes, within the municipality of Santiago del Teide, on Tuesday afternoon. This was reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre 1-1-2 of the Canary Islands.

The rescue took place after alerts indicated two swimmers were in distress; however, one of them, a female, managed to escape unaided and was attended to by the Tenerife Firefighters until the Emergency Service ambulance from Canario (SUC) arrived. They assessed her and provided medical care for some abrasions, but her condition did not necessitate transfer to a healthcare facility.

Meanwhile, the man was transported to Tenerife South Airport where he was attended to by an ambulance from SUC and subsequently taken to Hospiten Sur University Hospital, showing signs of drowning.

Additionally, officers from the Local Police and the Civil Guard were involved in managing the situation and have submitted the necessary reports.
