García Sanabria Park will transform into “Alice in Wonderland” for this edition of Plenilunio Santa Cruz. This was revealed by the municipality’s mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, who detailed that “in this location, the traditional Le Good “Wonderland” Market will be set up, featuring a special theme this year inspired by this beloved children’s classic, aligning perfectly with the Plenilunio theme of ‘Fantastic Worlds’. Attendees can explore gastronomic stalls, a trend market, and spaces dedicated to children’s activities.”

In this context, Bermúdez highlighted that “this is one of the most significant locations of Plenilunio, where countless families congregate to relish a broad spectrum of programming tailored for all audiences.” He noted that “this venue will be open on Saturday the 5th from 11:00 a.m. to midnight, and on Sunday the 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. “It’s one of the key hubs of Plenilunio, so for anyone wishing to enjoy delightful cuisine and quality family time, this is the perfect place,” he added.

The CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, shared that “this time, Le Good ‘Wonderland’ Market will feature nearly one hundred exhibitors, making it an excellent meeting point to appreciate the finest branded products from shops selling clothing, accessories, flowers, or food, among others.” She added that “among this extensive array, there will be 25 vendors including food trucks and stalls.”

In this spirit, Pérez announced that “as part of the initial proposal of ‘Fantastic Worlds’, we will transform the park into ‘Wonderland’, populated by grinning cats, clocks, white rabbits, the queen of hearts, mirrors, magical locks, and even the mad hatter.” She further mentioned that “participants will discover specially arranged activities such as ‘Alice’s Tea Table’, which will commence at 6:00 p.m., featuring a sommelier who will conduct a talk and a tea tasting worldwide. Additionally, some exhibitors will create special Alice-themed editions such as jewellery, candles, or cookies.”

“The atmosphere will serve as an additional draw for this event, which, as in previous years, will blend fashion, crafts, trends, and culture while dedicating a significant space to gastronomy. Around twenty stalls will be established focusing on catering through food trucks and gastronomic booths, offering options for coffee, ice cream, baked goods, crepes, and croquettes, among others, inclusive of gluten-free and sugar-free alternatives,” emphasised Pérez, who added that “around the central fountain of García Sanabria, there will be a tent hosting free workshops on cheese, honey, vermouth, plus hand-crafted liquors and beers, along with other primary sector products.”

Extensive range of commercial offerings

The commercial offerings of Plenilunio will be enhanced on Saturday and Sunday with two additional markets, aiming to increase the number of merchants participating in the event.

Consequently, the Black & White Market, organised by Mercadillos del Atlántico, will be located in the Alameda del Duque Santa Elena, accessible on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the Traditional Market of Artisans of Santa Cruz will be held at Plaza del Príncipe, showcasing a variety of products crafted by local talent, available for visiting both Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Plenilunio Santa Cruz is orchestrated by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Development Society and is endorsed by Promotur Turismo de Canarias (Government of the Canary Islands), funded through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, as part of the Next Generation EU Funds. Additionally, it enjoys support from Hospiten, Worten, Fuente Alta, Mutua Tinerfeña, and Cajasiete.

Plenilunio Santa Cruz encourages the use of public transport or bicycles, proper waste disposal in designated containers, and the usage of single-use cups, promoting cardboard containers as well.

Individuals interested in staying in Santa Cruz during Plenilunio can find comprehensive information regarding local hotels and special offers in the ‘Accommodations’ section of the website www.pleniluniosantacruz.com, where further details about mobility and the complete programme of activities are also available.
