SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The ‘Gran Teide’ room of the Hotel Botánico in Puerto de la Cruz has hosted this Thursday the ‘workshop’ of the ‘FVW’ congress, the most relevant annual meeting of the German tourism industry, in whose celebration ‘Turismo de Tenerife’ collaborates, and which welcomed the presence of nearly fifty experts from the sector and German travel agents who have confirmed the experience of Tenerife as a safe tourist destination.

“In 2019 we had more than half a million German travelers, it is a type of tourist that interests us, because it is responsible from an environmental point of view, it leaves money at the destination, and if we manage to retain it, it is one of the great alternatives to a The situation of very changing markets in which the effects of Brexit, and the difficulties that all this generates, we do not know the scope that it will end up having, “said the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, on this day.

The president of the Cabildo also recalled that it is necessary to “diversify” and make German tourism a goal.

“We are delighted that this meeting, which is usually held in different countries, is now being held here in Spain and specifically in Tenerife,” he stressed, and linked this presence to the incorporation of Tenerife as a member of the UNWTO, which, he said, “is one more step in the work carried out by Turismo de Tenerife that connects with the rest of the world and allows us to be in the main forums in which the tourism reality is debated and analyzed, in order to anticipate a constantly changing market “.

For his part, Shönke Graumann, coordinator of the ‘FVW’ congress, pointed out that “the objective of this meeting is to analyze the situation in Tenerife and discuss solutions for the market with the new situation created by the pandemic”, and reiterated in the intention of “connecting the German and Spanish markets”.

The representative of the German tour operator also indicated that for the German market “the Canary Islands in winter is always the number one destination”, he argued that the islands have “a great image as a safe destination” and valued the presence of travel agents on the island who will visit all geography.

In addition, he concluded by stating that this congress “will be a very interesting event” that will culminate with a ten-page report in the magazine that will have “a very intense impact” and will be translated as a great promotion for the local market.

The ‘FVW’ congress has been held for more than 20 years, and in addition to bringing together the main German tour operators, from travel agents to representatives of the destinations’ tourism authorities and associations, it also has the presence of specialists in products of the main tour operators in that country.

The event combines work sessions with debates and meetings in which new strategies and visions are established on how to effectively establish and promote the destination in the German market, for which visits and excursions are also organized.

Within the program coordinated by Turismo de Tenerife, in addition to the day at the Hotel Botánico in Puerto de la Cruz, attendees will get to know the gastronomy and wines of Tenerife in a visit to Bodegas Monje.

A visit to Loro Parque, Teide National Park for stargazing and a whale watching excursion are also included in the schedule established for the following days, among other activities.
