SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30 September (EUROPA PRESS) –

During the plenary meeting of the Cabildo of Tenerife last Friday, the decree by President Rosa Dávila was acknowledged, which tasks the Environmental Assessment Commission of Tenerife (CEAT) to initiate the environmental assessment of the Insular Interest Project dubbed ‘Underwater Garden’, located within the municipality of Guía de Isora.

The aim of this initiative is to facilitate the establishment of a complementary, non-accommodation tourist facility on land, characterised by a regenerative park that will provide both visitors and residents with extraordinary experiences that foster a connection to the sea and nature through leisure activities, sport, science, art, and entertainment, all while promoting the revitalisation of the seabed and its ecosystems.

Alicia Leirachá, the insular director of Strategic Projects, noted in a statement that the advancement of such initiatives encourages a tourism model “that revolves around the notion of sustainability, encompassing its various facets: social, environmental, and economic.”

Furthermore, Leirachá emphasised the efforts of her team to facilitate and advance these nationally significant projects for the island of Tenerife and concluded that within this term, they are committed to “prioritising and accelerating the processing of strategic projects that contribute to the sustainable economic, social, health, and territorial development of Tenerife, aiming for their final endorsement before the end of this term.”
