On Saturday, October 5, a new edition of the inclusive guided tours at the Palmetum of Santa Cruz will commence. This complimentary programme, supported by Fundación Cepsa, is set to occur every Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m.

To participate, prior registration is essential through the botanical garden’s website. www.palmetumtenerife.es Please indicate the specific day you wish to join the activity. This initiative is directed towards NGOs on the Island, enabling them to bring their groups to explore this botanical garden, as well as any individuals wishing to accompany them on this inclusive guided tour.

The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, expresses his appreciation for this initiative, stating that “we are making this unique space accessible to the entire community, allowing them to experience the diverse vegetation, textures, and aromas that change throughout the seasons.” He continued, “For Santa Cruz, the Palmetum is one of our natural treasures, of which we take great pride; hence, we encourage everyone to seize this opportunity to become acquainted with it up close.”

Javier Rivero, the delegate councillor of the Parque Marítimo society, which manages the Palmetum, extends his gratitude to Fundación Cepsa for their support of this programme, which facilitates “the chance to explore this garden intimately. Moreover, it is currently undergoing significant renovations of several areas, thanks in part to the collaboration with the Cepsa Foundation.”

Belén Machado, head of Fundación Cepsa in the Canary Islands, highlights that, “at Fundación Cepsa, one of our core focuses is on people, while another is biodiversity. This wonderful initiative merges both by introducing vulnerable groups to this botanical treasure located in the capital of Tenerife, and allowing anyone who wishes to join them. Together, they will enjoy a Saturday morning where they can strengthen their bonds and learn about the rich biodiversity of the environment, guided by specialised monitors.”

The tour of the Palmetum lasts approximately one and a half hours, and the visits are tailored to the requirements of the participants, featuring sign language interpreters and accessibility throughout the journey. Additional support can be requested in advance at info@palmetumsantacruz.com.
