Last Friday, September 27, the Cabildo of Tenerife made a significant advancement in the industrial progression of the island by approving a decree to request the Environmental Assessment Commission of Tenerife (CEAT) to initiate the environmental evaluation process for an Island Interest within the Granadilla Industrial Estate. This initiative, backed by the firm POLGRAN SA, aims to accommodate logistics infrastructures and specialised industries in the SP1-01 sector, a vital area that could greatly enhance the industrial framework of Tenerife.
Overseen by the Insular Directorate of Strategic Projects and led by Alicia Leirachá, this venture signifies a pivotal step in the development of new industrial zones. Leirachá clarified that the initiative aligns with the aims of the Cabildo’s Industry Department, which seeks to tackle the increasing need for industrial land on the island. According to her, “this project addresses the necessity to solidify local industry as a key economic driver,” a strategy poised to foster the growth of local enterprises while attracting new investments.
The director further highlighted that this development has the capacity to produce stable and high-quality employment opportunities, benefiting not only the logistics sector but also interconnected industries. “We have engaged in a collaborative effort to ensure that the project satisfies the needs of the industrial sector, while also aiding in the economic diversification of Tenerife,” commented Leirachá. This initiative could play a crucial role in the island’s economic sustainability.
