SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 19 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
On Thursday, King Felipe VI emphasised his “dedication” to the Canary Islands and the archipelago’s significance as a “reflection of diversity” as he was awarded the Gold Medal in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of his reign.
“These islands are my home,” he asserted during an official address at the regional Chamber, where he reminisced about the “experiences” from his first official visit to the Canary Islands in 1997, as well as the “good and bad times” encountered by the island’s community.
The monarch, accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, reiterated his admiration for the Canarian people, noting that “they unite even more” during challenging periods, and at those times, “they offer their utmost.”
