Urbaser, a firm focused on environmental solutions, has initiated a thorough operation to enhance street cleaning services in La Laguna coinciding with the Christ celebrations. The outcome has been remarkable, successfully restoring order to the streets in a remarkably short time, with 21.54 tonnes of waste collected across the municipality.

The operation saw the involvement of 47 staff members last Saturday (including a service manager, two foremen, 17 drivers, 25 labourers, and two candidates for labourer positions) and 34 on Sunday (comprising an operations manager, 10 drivers, 21 labourers, and two candidates), all dedicated to maintenance tasks, primarily in high-footfall areas such as the Plaza del Cristo and parts of the historic centre during the festivities.

These responsibilities also encompassed clearing streets and areas, cleaning waste bins, eliminating graffiti, and scrubbing containers.

In the days preceding the event, all streets and roads designated for the celebrations were thoroughly cleaned.

Additionally, specialised teams equipped with personnel and materials were deployed during the festivities to conduct clean-up operations in various parts of the town.

The exceptional cleaning service further included street sweeping both before and after the events, along with the temporary relocation of containers to ease the way for processions, ensuring comprehensive cleaning of primary thoroughfares and public spaces within the municipality.

Following the conclusion of the celebrations, once all temporary installations were dismantled, meticulous cleaning efforts were undertaken across the area, ensuring the complete removal of any stains and debris left on the public highway.

The teams utilised an inspection vehicle, two rear-loading refuse trucks with capacities of 12 and 18 m³, a truck-mounted street sweeper, a vehicle equipped for cleaning chemical toilets, an 8 m³ tanker, two hydro-cleaning vans, one electric hydro-cleaning van, and six additional cleaning vehicles.

Furthermore, Urbaser set up 19 portable chemical toilets and distributed up to 16 extra containers with a capacity of 1,100 litres in the busiest areas during the festivities, divided by waste type: 10 for general refuse, four for packaging, and four for recycling paper and cardboard.
