SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 17 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
This Wednesday, beginning at 09.00, the headquarters of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands in Tenerife will host a meeting between the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and the Vice President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, to discuss the migration crisis affecting the islands.
The meeting follows a letter from Clavijo to the President of the EC, Ursula Von der Leyen, in which he requested a visit to the archipelago to observe first-hand the situation regarding the reception of migrants and unaccompanied minors.
Attending the meeting will also be the Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, alongside the Minister of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Nieves Lady Barreto, the Deputy Minister of the Presidency, Alfonso Cabello, and the Director General of Relations with Africa, Luis Padilla.
The European Commission will be represented by Olivier Bergeau and María Luisa Llano, members of the cabinet of the Vice-President, as well as the representative of the Community Executive in Spain, Etienne de Perier.
