The neighbors evicted last May of Las Bajas farmhouse, next to the Güímar tunnels, yesterday they accused the former mayor, Airam Puerta, of generating an uncertain future. They do it because half a year after the fact (occurred when the socialist mayor was alderman) they have not returned home, when they let them know that they would do it in four months; because in this period Costas has informed them of the demolition of their homesand because it does not respond to whether the document they received from the local police has any validity – it does not have a letterhead or is signed – urging them to leave the neighborhood.
«Is it true that this document that you sent to the Police is useless?», The neighbor Ana Marría asked Airam Puerta in the speech that was authorized in the plenary session. The silence of the current first deputy mayor and person in charge of Urban Planning contributed to inflame some spirits that were already heated when Puerta stated: «Regarding some questions that have been asked me, the legal services recommend that sometimes I have to answer and sometimes, not ». The local reaction was to call him a “liar” on at least eight occasions, and “corrupt” on two more occasions. The Local Police raised a sanctioning act against a neighbor.
All this occurred during an extraordinary session requested by the PP to address the excess, estimated at more than one million euros, of the cost of the work to secure the slope. Awarded for 342,865 euros, the final price will reach one and a half million euros, although so far only the contracted amount has been paid (there remains a certification to pay), according to Puerta and the mayor, Gustavo Pérez. He stopped the work when he learned of the increase in the price of the work.
Carmen Luisa Castro, spokesperson for the PP, asked seven questions about this performance and drew attention, among other questions, on the Extraordinary Report No. 3 of the Construction Management, last June, which indicates that the execution began “under the protection of an estimated provisional budget.” He also asked for explanations on why the work was allowed to continue knowing the excess cost.
Airam Puerta defended the legality of the action and the need for it, taking into account the emergency detected by the informant technicians and the responsibility they would have incurred if they did not act. He did it before two councilors of the PP, Francisco Hernández Armas and David Román, asked for his resignation or dismissal as “incompetent.”
At the previous point on the agenda, and with the abstention of Councilor Beatriz Perdomo (thus breaking the voting discipline of the PSOE and the local government), the Plenary agreed to draft a project for a part of the stabilization works of the slope of the neighborhood of Santa Lucía-Los Barrancos, on the coast of Agache. It so happens that these works have already been carried out and that there was also an extra cost compared to what was awarded.
Violators of the covid rule
The Plenary did not clarify whether in the toast made in a private home on May 15, after the act to label Carla Antonelli street in El Socorro, there were 11 or 7 alleged offenders of the covid rule. The PP stressed that there are four sanctioning acts for completing their process that correspond to the former mayor, Airam Puerta, the PSOE councilors Cándido Gómez and José Miguel Hernández, and with the MEP Juan Fernando López Aguilar. The secretary confirmed that the police report that identifies the alleged offenders is missing from the file. |
