The Mayor of Icod de los Vinos, Javier Sierra, along with the Councillor for Festivals, Cathaysa Concepción, has unveiled the poster and schedule for the September festivities honouring the Most Holy Christ Rescued from Calvary, which will formally commence on Friday, September 20, and conclude on Monday, the 30th.
Sierra emphasised that “Icod de los Vinos will host some meaningful September holidays that will enable us to enjoy ourselves and connect without prolonging the programme over an entire month.” The mayor also expressed his pride that “two women are initiating and concluding these celebrations.”
In her remarks, the Councillor for Festivals pointed out that this year has been significantly shaped by cultural influences in various forms. She further stated that “even though we are restricting the number of celebration days, all generations will find their niche and their moment, as the programme is tailored for everyone’s enjoyment.”
The festivities will officially kick off on Friday, September 20, in the evening with an opening speech from Mari Carmen Lorenzo, a municipal worker at the Icod de los Vinos Town Hall who has been deeply connected to the municipality and its festivities throughout her years of service to this local council.
On Sunday the 29th, Plaza Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres will serve as the ideal venue for the Literary-Musical Festival “Art Festival,” well-established in the City of Drado. This year, the festivities will be led by Magistrate Auxiliadora Díaz, judge of the Court of Violence against Women number 2 of Las Palmas, and a member of the Observatory against Gender Violence in Spain.
Additionally, during these celebratory days, performers and groups such as Salvapantallas, Tributando a Juan Luis Guerra, Tenerife’s Besay Pérez with a candlelit concert, and Andalusian artist Laura Gallego will be featured.
Comedy will be assured with Aarón Gómez, Omayra Cazorla, and Petit Lorena, ensuring that children and families are also treated to a delightful programme for the little ones.
The evening events will spotlight Maquinaria Band, The Boys Machine, Orquesta Sabrosa, Renzo el selector, Adam Lorr, and Fabrizzio Salgado, among others.
