SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife has approved the addition of 418 new placements for individuals with autism, psychological disorders, and behavioural issues, alongside residences and day care centres across different municipalities.

This announcement was made by the Cabildo’s President, Rosa Dávila, and First Vice President, Lope Afonso, during a press briefing regarding the decisions made in the Government Council.

In particular, the Governing Council ratified the sixth addendum to amend the Cooperation Agreement between the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo de Tenerife, which pertains to services for individuals in a state of dependency and, broadly, for those under six years of age, the elderly, or those with disabilities. It additionally includes actions related to the process for acknowledging dependency status and entitlement to benefits.

The approved amendment amounts to 3.2 million euros, marking a 5.4% increase compared to the previous year.

This will elevate the overall number of social-healthcare positions to 8,100 by 2024, along with an additional 12,000 hours dedicated to promoting personal autonomy.

Furthermore, the Governing Council sanctioned an agreement with the Spanish Red Cross, valued at approximately 200,000 euros, to staff the Teide National Park year-round.

This initiative enhances visitor safety at Teide National Park by ensuring the daily availability of Red Cross personnel, according to the island’s government.

As of October 1 this year, both the Teide National Park and the Corona Forestal Natural Park will benefit from daily services provided by the Spanish Red Cross, which include search and rescue operations as well as preventive measures.

Regarding Natural Environment, Sustainability, and Security and Emergencies, a contract was awarded to the public company Gesplan for the service ‘Emergency actions, major forest fire in August 2023: restoration of the summit scrubland.’

The project necessitates an investment of around one million euros and is scheduled for completion over a three-year period.

The objective of the contract is to facilitate recovery of the shrubs situated within the Community Interest Habitat (HIC) 4090, specifically in the regeneration enclosures established in regions impacted by the significant fire that transpired in August 2023.

1.8 MILLION FOR SUPPLY NETWORKS

In the domain of Municipal Cooperation and Housing, the Island Programme of Priority Municipal Works for the Improvement of Supply Networks was ratified, addressing municipalities with a population ranging from 20,000 to 50,000, amounting to 1.8 million euros.

Additionally, the Insular Housing Rehabilitation Programme was augmented by 900,000 euros, while the Insular Activa Suelo Programme (-20) was increased by 400,750 euros.

In the sector of industry, a subsidy line of 550,000 euros was approved to modernise the image of industrial establishments.

These grants aim to assist with expenses related to the refurbishment and replacement of signage and identification posters in the industrial sector, along with corporate image design.

In the cultural domain, a budget of 315,876 euros was approved for financing the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof of the TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes facility.

The installation of these photovoltaic panels aims to promote energy self-sufficiency, aligning with the sustainable energy strategy of the Canary Islands and the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
