This weekend, the Fiestas del Cristo de La Laguna features a comprehensive range of activities. From today until Monday, the inhabitants of La Laguna will partake in the most anticipated celebrations of the year in the city.

Tonight, Thursday 12th September, the traditional Night of Humour is scheduled for 9pm, where Abubukaka will present his show “IGIC Incluido”.

Friday, 13th September, promises to be a day of celebration with an array of activities. At 7:30 p.m., the Pandorga and the Caballitos de Fuego parade will travel through the streets from Plaza de la Concepción to Plaza del Cristo, a procession steeped in tradition and spectacle.

At 9:00 p.m., the Night of Traditions will honour the contributions of Ángel Díaz Rodríguez and Demófilo Díaz Rojas towards the customs of Las Mercedes and the Anaga farmhouses. The evening will showcase musical acts by Los Majuelos, Achamán, and the Pieles Company with their performance “Piel con piel”. Simultaneously, there will be a display of danced Tajaraste, aiming to set a Guinness world record.

The day will conclude with the customary Eve fireworks at midnight, followed by music and celebrations in nearby taverns.

On Saturday, 14th September, the highlight of the festivities will commence with church bells ringing at 7:00 a.m. At 10:15 a.m., the Civic-Military Procession with the Royal Banner will depart from the Town Hall to the Holy Cathedral. There, Astrid Pérez Batista, president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, will greet the official representation of the King of Spain, after which a Solemn Eucharist will be celebrated, followed by the return procession of the revered image. In the afternoon, another mass will be held at 7:00 p.m., and the procession will traverse the principal streets of the city.

At 11:30 p.m., the Fuegos del Risco will illuminate the night sky, setting the stage for the Megaverbenazo del Cristo at midnight, featuring performances by El Morocho and the Great Orchestra, Virginia Guantanamera, and The Boys Machine.

On Sunday, 15th September, the focus will be on family-friendly activities. Beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Plaza del Cristo, a Children’s Fair will offer bouncy castles, workshops, and a photo booth with fictional characters. The family show “Superpoder” by Super Abuela, an educational concert for children, is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

The evening will culminate with a Concert to the Christ of La Laguna performed by Los Cantadores, alongside prominent artists such as Blas Cantó, Nia, Soraya, and Arístides Moreno.

On Monday, 16th September, an outdoor film night is planned for 8:30 p.m., featuring the screening of “Campeonex” by Javier Fesser, a box office success in 2023.
