The Governing Council of the Tenerife Island Council has approved a proposal this Wednesday to commence the refurbishment of the TF-1 road surface, involving an investment of approximately 30 million euros across a stretch of about 25 kilometres between the towns of Arico and Güímar.
This announcement was made at a press conference by the island’s president, Rosa Dávila, who highlighted that the TF-1 requires “urgent” attention in this region, which sees over 50,000 vehicles traversing daily.
She emphasised that this initiative forms part of the Cabildo’s efforts to “enhance” the quality of the island’s infrastructure and to provide “greater safety” for motorists.
The project has been segmented into four sections, all awarded to local enterprises, with the Cabildo aiming for construction to commence either at the year’s end or in January, following the completion of the administrative procedures, with a projected execution period of around six months.
Additionally, the Governing Council has approved an investment of 1.6 million euros, in partnership with the Government of the Canary Islands, to upgrade the Hospital del Norte and the CAE of Puerto de la Cruz, measures intended to improve healthcare quality in the area and also minimise the number of trips required.
Specifically, this will involve the establishment of a new laboratory at the Hospital del Norte de Tenerife, along with a cytostatic unit for oncological treatment.
