SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 3 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Head of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, announced this Tuesday that his meeting scheduled for Wednesday with the president of the autonomous city, Juan Jesús Vivas, in Ceuta has been deferred.
“President Vivas and I have mutually agreed to postpone the special meeting regarding the migration crisis planned for this Wednesday. We continue to communicate and collaborate in pursuit of solutions to a situation that impacts both regions,” he stated on his profile on the social media platform ‘X’.
Clavijo reiterated on Tuesday his support for the Government of the Canary Islands’ decision to place the responsibility of reception in the hands of the central Government, given the overcrowding of facilities in the autonomous community. He also acknowledged that there is an “internal discussion” within his party (CC) concerning the appropriateness of sustaining parliamentary support for the central Government.
