SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30th Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The chairperson of the Tenerife Island Council, Rosa Dávila, has emphasised the investment of €7 million made by the island authority for the enhancement of the roads in La Laguna.
Dávila visited the construction works on the TF-13 (Ring Road) as it traverses Las Canteras on Friday, alongside the Councillor for Roads, Dámaso Arteaga, to observe the completed work from Thursday night.
In a statement, she noted that the collection of projects executed on the TF-12 – San Andrés-La Laguna North Highway, Anaga dorsal or Taganana highway – and the TF-13 – Ronda Highway – signifies an investment of €7 million aimed at enhancing road safety in La Laguna.
“The road surface at Las Canteras was severely worn, and we have successfully finalised a long-awaited project on a road utilised by approximately 26,000 vehicles daily. This road is a crucial link for La Laguna, connecting all the coastal regions of Valle Guerra, Bajamar, and Punta del Hidalgo, as well as Tegueste,” she remarked.
She also underscored that, in addition to infrastructural enhancements like the extensive pedestrian ring road on Padre Anchieta, several “strategic” improvement initiatives in La Laguna will serve the public interest.
“These initiatives on the TF-13 and TF-12, along the Anaga ridge, will enhance the road surface and, thereby, the safety conditions for users,” she stated.
Arteaga elaborated that the improvement work at the TF-13 junction in Las Canteras and the Vía de Ronda is “essential,” with the work completed on Thursday night involving an investment of about €300,000.
“In addition to this, works are ongoing on the TF-12, where intermittent road closures are in effect. We kindly ask for understanding from users as these closures are imperative to ensure the safety of drivers and the teams conducting the work,” he explained.
The enhancement and rehabilitation projects on the TF-13 island road through Las Canteras were conducted between the kilometre markers 4+00 and 6+090.
Alongside these works, the road has been reinforced with additional safety measures. This includes milling operations and subsequent asphalting, as well as the preliminary marking of the horizontal signage followed by the permanent horizontal signage.
The TF-13 serves as the principal ring road connecting the municipalities of La Laguna and Tegueste, alongside the entire coastal expanse of Valle de Guerra, Bajamar, and Punta del Hidalgo.
