The Department of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Canary Islands Government, via the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI), has commenced the procedure for accepting the complimentary transfer of two plots situated in the Geneto district of La Laguna.
The land will be allocated for the development of 61 protected housing intended for individuals aged over 65.
Specifically, the City Council has handed over plots 12 and 13 of the Geneto 5 Partial Plan to ICAVI, covering areas of 1,840.88 and 507 square metres, respectively.
The director of ICAVI, Antonio Ortega, noted in a statement that “the decree of urgent housing measures enacted by the Canary Islands Government has been instrumental in facilitating this transfer, which advances the construction of officially protected housing aimed, on this occasion, at a particularly vulnerable segment of the population: the elderly.”
He further emphasised that the Executive “is making ongoing strides in tackling the housing crisis that impacts the Archipelago, addressing the needs for housing.”
