In a ceremony brimming with symbolism and unity, the donation of food collected during the XIII Atlético Floral Offering to the Virgin of Candelaria took place yesterday at the steps of the Basilica of La Patrona.
The collection occurred on August 15, in conjunction with the celebrations honouring the Virgin, and has established itself over the past few years as a significant event in the local calendar, emphasising the bond between sports, faith, and social responsibility.
This year, an impressive quantity of food was gathered, approximately 2,000 kilos, which will be distributed through Caritas to aid the most disadvantaged families in the area who are in vulnerable circumstances.
This initiative has transformed into an effective means of offering assistance to those experiencing financial hardship, supplying them with support and illustrating that solidarity can genuinely impact Candelaria.
Attendees at the award ceremony included several municipal government officials, such as the mayor, Mari Brito, the Councillor for Sports, Manuel González, and the Councillor for Institutional Relations, Francisco Pinto, alongside Father José Ramón Enjamio.
In a collective act of appreciation and acknowledgment, all present underscored the “tireless” efforts of Domingo Álvarez, the driving force behind this charitable event, as well as the engagement of the company Deportes Salud, represented by David González, who consistently upholds this noble cause with “exemplary” dedication.
