SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Tenerife Island Council, via its Sports department, has earmarked over 700,000 euros for the enhancement of sports facilities in the municipalities of Los Silos and La Laguna.

In particular, the Sports Councillor, Yolanda Moliné, outlines in a statement that in Los Silos, upgrades are underway at the Hermanos Illada Sports Centre, with a budget of 117,022 euros, of which the Cabildo’s contribution amounts to 93,618.34 euros. Meanwhile, the Sibora Tennis Club has a budget of 122,157 euros, with the island corporation contributing 97,725 euros.

Within La Laguna, and also as part of the Tenerife Sports Infrastructure Plan, an investment of 150,000 euros is being allocated to the Las Mantecas Skate Rink. Additionally, for this year, there will be a 125,000 euro allocation for the BMX Circuit in La Vega Park and another 150,000 euros for the Skate Rink in La Vega Park.

Yolanda Moliné notes that “this demonstrates the Council’s capability to assist local councils in either establishing new sporting facilities or enhancing, modernising, and adapting current ones to meet existing regulations.”

She further stated that these figures complement those already sanctioned months prior, and it is anticipated that further approvals will be issued in the upcoming weeks “to ensure that all municipalities in Tenerife have their sports facilities in prime condition.”

Moliné also emphasised that “the island institution’s dedication to sport in Tenerife and the need for facilities that cater to the island’s requirements is once again highlighted.”

The Tenerife Sports Infrastructure Plan (PIDT) aims to develop an island-wide strategy that addresses the contemporary requirements for sports facilities, with the goal of re-establishing the collaborative processes necessary to renovate existing facilities and create new areas that enhance, expand, modernise, and adapt Tenerife’s sports facilities to meet current regulations and the needs of the local population.
