SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23rd Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife has concluded the thirtieth edition of the Aula en la Naturaleza Barranco de la Arena programme, which saw the participation of 392 individuals.

This initiative is designed to promote and enhance environmental education by fostering interaction with nature within the facilities located in the Corona Forestal Natural Park.

The Minister for the Environment, Sustainability, Security, and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez, notes in a statement that “environmental education is crucial for cultivating a more sustainable and eco-friendly island.”

In this regard, she mentions that “over the past three decades, 11,000 individuals have taken part in this initiative, which has become well-established and serves as an excellent resource for people to learn about the nature that surrounds them.”

The Environmental Education Unit’s programme targets schools, colleges, associations, NGOs, local councils, universities, and training institutions, among others.

Specifically, the educational programme is accessible to organised and legally recognised groups, provided they do not exceed 32 participants, inclusive of at least two group leaders, with all members being over the age of 6.

The programme operates annually from January until the end of June, excluding Christmas, Easter, and weekends between Easter and the conclusion of the campaign in June.

Groups may request to stay for a minimum of three days (two nights) and a maximum of five days (four nights) during the week, as well as for two nights over weekends from January up until just before Easter.

This educational programme boasts extensive facilities situated in the northern region of Tenerife, amidst a vast Canary Island pine forest, within the Corona Forestal Natural Park.

The amenities are designed to host groups for several days and are equipped with valuable educational resources for carrying out activities in the surrounding area.

To facilitate this programme, there is comprehensive equipment within the Corona Forestal Natural Park that is fully stocked with everything necessary for an enjoyable multi-day experience, as well as for conducting environmental education activities.

The leaders of each group applying to partake in this programme receive educational resources and support from the Environmental Education Unit beforehand, enabling them to prepare an activity project tailored specifically to the needs of their group, with personalised advice being provided.
