SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23 Aug (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Tenerife Island Council has revoked the prohibition on lighting fires in leisure areas due to improvements in weather conditions.

Consequently, from this Friday, the standard regulations governing the use of mountains and protected natural spaces, as outlined in current laws and regulations – particularly those concerning preventive measures against forest fires – alongside the plans and guidelines of protected natural areas will be re-instated.

The Minister for the Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez, urges the public to exercise extreme caution when engaging in any activities in the mountains and reminds everyone that agricultural burning has been suspended to mitigate the risk of forest fires.

The General Directorate of Emergencies for the Canary Islands Government has terminated the pre-alert for high temperatures and the warning for the risk of forest fires, effective from 7:00 a.m. this Friday, following the conclusion of the high-temperature episode that impacted the midlands, elevated areas, and peaks of Tenerife.
