The Tenerife Island Council has removed the prohibition on igniting fires in recreational zones due to enhanced weather conditions.

Consequently, starting from this Friday, the standard regulations governing the use of mountains and protected natural areas outlined in relevant laws and guidelines – specifically those that address preventive measures against wildfires – as well as the regulations and plans pertaining to those protected natural spaces will be reinstated.

Blanca Pérez, the Minister for the Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, urges the public to exercise extreme caution when engaging in any activities in the mountains and reminds everyone that agricultural burning has been halted to mitigate the risk of wildfires.

The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government has lifted the high temperature advisory and the wildfire risk alert from 7:00 a.m. this Friday, following the conclusion of the high temperature episode that impacted the midlands, high-altitude areas, and peaks of Tenerife.
