The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Public Services department and the cleaning service concessionaire company Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales, reported a total of 257,270 kilos of household items and bulky waste collected during July, as stated in the information provided yesterday.

This figure signifies a rise of 3.5% when compared to the same month in the previous year. Moreover, during the same analysed period, there was also a surge in the collection of light packaging, organic waste, and paper and cardboard.

The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasised yesterday that “the council provides a collection service for household items to prevent them from being disposed of in the bins designated for daily refuse, which are not very substantial.” He further remarked that “the statistics reveal that efforts in promoting responsible and selective waste collection resonate with residents, who are increasingly engaging in it.”

Meanwhile, the Councillor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, confirmed that communication channels have been improved between citizens and the service, making it easier for residents to request the removal of their belongings. “This approach helps to prevent the abandonment of furniture and appliances in public spaces, which can result in penalties and sanctions,” he highlighted.

Individuals interested can reach out to Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales by dialling 922 22 48 49 to arrange for the complimentary collection of their household items. Alternatively, requests can be made through the online form found at https://santacruzlimpia.es/recogida-de-enseres/.

Additionally, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council reminded that it provides a 5-day, 5-district collection service to deter the abandonment of furniture, appliances, and other items on public thoroughfares.

Through this initiative, a specific day each week is designated for each district to expedite the collection of such waste and maintain the city’s appealing appearance. Consequently, residents in each area may dispose of their bulky refuse, between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., on the designated days: Sunday – Anaga, Monday – Ifara Centre, Tuesday – Salud – La Salle, Wednesday – Ofra -Costa Sur, and Thursday – Suroeste.

The service accepts refuse including sofas, mattresses, furniture, doors, chairs, wooden boxes and slats, blinds, and household electrical and electronic appliances.

Clean Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz Limpia serves as the street cleaning and municipal waste collection and transportation service of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, managed by Valoriza Servicios Medioambientales, a company entrusted with this task since 2019.

It consists of a team exceeding 430 professionals and a fleet of over one hundred vehicles, with the primary goal of ensuring that roads and public areas are preserved in optimal condition for the enjoyment of citizens.

Those wishing to contact Santa Cruz Limpia can do so by calling 922 224 849 and 630 657 638 (via WhatsApp), or by using the suggestion box (https://santacruzlimpia.es/contacto/) or the service’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and X).
