Christmas lights installation has commenced in various locations across La Laguna. Fran Hernández, the Councillor for Municipal Services, confirmed that the assembly work began last week, with the aim of ensuring all towns and neighbourhoods are adorned with festive lights in time for the lighting ceremony. Taking advantage of the reduced summer traffic has made the work easier in certain areas.
Although the usual installation period is around this time, Hernández mentioned that this year it started just a week earlier than usual.
“The municipality is vast and dispersed, with 81 towns and neighbourhoods. We aim to decorate all of them with Christmas elements,” Hernández stated, emphasizing the importance of spreading the festive spirit throughout the entire area, not just focusing on the town centre.
He explained the logistics involved in installing almost 3,000 Christmas motifs, requiring significant effort and resources. The use of LED technology in around 225 new elements has been implemented to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.

Hernández shared details of the new features for this year’s Christmas decorations in the municipality. “One significant addition will be at Parque de la Constitución, where we aim to enhance the festive decorations further,” he revealed.
Other surprises await, with plans to give a unique touch to the iconic light arch on Carrera Street. Changes and enhancements will also be made in Plaza de la Concepción and Plaza del Adelantado, with specific themes in mind.
The official Christmas lights switch-on ceremony is scheduled for the third week of November, where new attractions are being considered in collaboration with the Department of Festivals.
La Laguna’s Christmas lights, particularly in the town centre, have become a significant seasonal attraction drawing large crowds every year.
