Santa Cruz de Tenerife has now been awarded the quality seal by the Comprehensive System for Tourist Quality in Destination (Sicted) to a total of 18 establishments. This distinction honours places that meet the standards and expectations of the tourism industry. The announcement was made by the mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, who emphasised “the strong commitment of the town to provide tourists with the best experiences and services.”
José Manuel Bermúdez highlighted that “this recognition has placed Santa Cruz de Tenerife as one of the municipalities in the Canary Islands with the highest number of distinguished establishments.” He also mentioned that the local government is striving to ensure that the establishments are “excellent, sustainable, modern, and innovative.”
Moreover, the CEO of the Sociedad de Desarrollo, Carmen Pérez, underlined that “the industry works tirelessly to guide visitors through the essential points of the capital and deliver the best possible experience.” She also expressed delight that the recognised companies come from various sectors, including museums, information centres, parks, and beaches, among others.
Among the 18 distinguished places in the city are Las Teresitas beach, the Maritime Park, the Palmetum, the García Sanabria Park Art Gallery, the Los Lavaderos Art Gallery, and the Castillo San Cristóbal Interpretation Centre.
Moreover, the Canary Islands Military History Museum, the La Recova Art Centre, the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Nature and Archaeology, Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, the La Recova Market, the Casa del Carnaval, the Tenerife Auditorium, the Guimerá Theatre, the Municipal Library, the Interpretation Centre of the I and II International Sculpture Exhibition in La Calle 1973 and 1994, and the CajaCanarias Cultural Space have also been awarded this seal.
Since 2020
Carmen Pérez has encouraged businesses in the city to participate in this initiative launched by the Development Society since 2020. Since then, a total of 55 companies from 16 different sectors have collaborated, with seven receiving Sicted awards in various categories specified by the Secretary of State for Tourism.
