The Education department of Adeje City Council, under the management of the socialist officials Adolfo Alonso Ferrera and Coraima Afonso Navarro, has now opened the application period for financial assistance for the purchase of school supplies for the academic year 2024-2025. This scheme targets students in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Intermediate Vocational Training, Basic Vocational Training, and Baccalaureate, who are residents in the municipality. With a budget of 100,000 Euros, these subsidies are intended to help alleviate the financial burden that families face when buying school supplies at the beginning of each academic year,” explained the Councillor for Education, Coraima Afonso Navarro. The grants also cover the acquisition of necessary materials for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which have become essential for education over the years. Among the eligibility criteria for these grants, applicants must have been residents of Adeje for at least one year, hold no academic qualification equal to or higher than the studies for which they are seeking the grant, and have no outstanding justifications or refunds for other grants awarded by the city council.

LEGAL FRAMEWORK

Moreover, the household income must not exceed the limits specified in the regulatory framework. Applicants are required to submit a standard application form, along with a sworn declaration, DNI or NIE, and evidence of the economic income of the family unit, among other documents. The deadline for submitting applications is one month from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, starting from today. The decision on the application will be posted on the local authority’s bulletin board and on the Adeje City Council’s online platform. Applications can be submitted electronically through the aforementioned in-person service at the Education Department. This initiative demonstrates the local government’s commitment to assisting low-income families in ensuring access to free, quality education.
