SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 16th August (EUROPA PRESS) –

A man aged 82 is in a serious condition after being rescued with signs of drowning in a swimming pool complex in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as reported by the 112 Emergency and Security Coordination Centre of the Canary Islands.

The incident took place around 12:05 pm at the location, prompting the dispatch of personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) upon receiving a report that a man showing signs of drowning and in cardiorespiratory arrest had been removed from the water.

While the emergency services were on-site, a doctor present at the scene initiated basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the victim. Local police officers were then responsible for fetching the Primary Care medical team from the health centre and transporting them to the incident site.

Subsequently, upon the arrival of the medical team from the health centre and the SUC at the swimming pool complex, they continued to provide assistance to the individual. Advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres were carried out, leading to the recovery of the victim from cardiac arrest and subsequently stabilising him. He was then evacuated to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands, where he was admitted in a critical state.

Local Police and National Police officers in the area compiled the necessary reports.
