Yesterday saw Tejina once again host the Verbena de la Pamela, a lively and popular event as part of the San Bartolomé festivities. Hundreds of locals and visitors gathered to showcase their creativity through unique and inventive headdresses.

The party kicked off at 3:00 pm with performances by Grupo Guaydil and Dorada Band orchestras at the bustling Church Square, blessed with delightful weather. DJ Jesu took the stage at Plaza del Ramal from 5:00 pm.

The crowd was adorned with a variety of original and colourful headdresses crafted specifically for the occasion, ranging from different themes and shapes to simple raffia or straw hats – a trend that has gained popularity in recent years.

Program

The festivities will run until September 1, featuring a mix of recreational, sports, religious, and cultural events. Today, the winners of the XXXVIII Corazones de Tejina Poem and Song Contest will be announced at Teatro Cine Unión at 8:30 p.m., followed by the Reggae Festival at 9:00 p.m. Tomorrow will see the XXXVI Bestialón de Tejina, a triathlon covering over 13 kilometres, starting at 9.30 am. DJ Santi, DJ Jesu, and DJ Romén will spin electronic music in the church square, with Néstor Rodríguez and Ni un Pelo de Tonto performing a concert at 10 pm.

Sunday will commence with a bicycle festival starting at 10:30 am from the Church Square.

The events continue until the main day of festivities on Sunday, August 25, with the entrance of three neighbourhood hearts to the church square at around 11:30 am, followed by an offering to San Bartolomé, a religious service, and a procession. The afternoon will feature the Battle of Flowers parading through the town streets, concluding with the Festival of Exaltation of the Hearts of Tejina at 6 pm.

The following day will include the popular Descuelgue de los Corazones event at 6:30 p.m.
