SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15th August (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Island Council has lifted the prohibition on lighting fires in recreational areas due to improved weather conditions.
Therefore, starting from today, Thursday, the standard regulations governing the use of mountains and protected natural spaces stipulated in laws and regulations – specifically those governing preventive measures against forest fires – will be enforced, as well as the plans and regulations of protected natural spaces.
Rosa Dávila, the president of the Tenerife Island Council, has highlighted that although the weather conditions have improved, “we must remain cautious with activities undertaken in the mountains, especially those that could pose a fire risk.”
She also mentioned that agricultural burning has been halted to prevent the threat of forest fires.
The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands lifted the pre-alert for high temperatures and the alert for forest fire risk at 9:00 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, following the conclusion of the period of elevated temperatures that impacted the midlands, high areas, and mountain peaks of Tenerife.
