SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13th August (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Councillor for Primary Sector of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Valentín González, paid a visit to the Agricultural Extension offices of Fasnia and Güímar, where he highlighted the promotion of a modernisation plan aiming to enhance the existing infrastructures and provide them with more material and human resources to improve service delivery to users.
Emphasising the commitment of the Cabildo to modernise and expand the Network of Agricultural Extension Agencies as essential working tools in the primary sector of Tenerife, the councillor underlined how these units undertake various tasks such as managing the Cabildo’s own farms, agricultural extension activities, experimentation, as well as offering training and advice to farmers.
“Initially, we are formulating a proposal for technological modernisation to enhance resource efficiency, followed by a process that involves deploying more human resources to handle tasks in the Agricultural Extension Agencies, as well as other infrastructures under the jurisdiction of the Primary Sector area, such as the Own Farms Unit, the CCBAT, or the Irrigation Office,” stated González.
Valentín González also revealed ongoing efforts to expand the Network of Agricultural Extension Agencies: “We plan to establish a new office in the municipality of San Miguel, and we are collaborating with the City Council to expedite this process.”
The Minister for Primary Sector highlighted how these initiatives form part of the action programme set to be implemented during this term, with the key goal of reinforcing the primary sector of the island and recognising it as a crucial economic sector for the development of Tenerife’s economy.
