There was a significant presence of sailors from Lanzarote and Fuerteventura at the Paris Olympic Games, with 76% of the medallists having trained on these Canary Islands during the winter. Out of the 30 medals awarded at the Games in August, 23 were won by athletes who had prepared on these two easternmost islands. Lanzarote, in particular, stood out as the preferred training location, with 8 out of the 10 Olympic classes present at Paris 2024 choosing it as their base.
